When I click to update the driver on the headset device, it says that I have the best driver already installed. My Dell Command Update app updates are up-to-date.The driver for each of the headset devices is Microsoft's USB Audio Device version 4.1.Have tried the laptop's inbuilt speaker and it does NOT crackle (its using a Realtek driver). It is on an earlier build of Windows 10 Enterprise. Have tried all 3 different headsets on my old HP laptop and they all work fine their.Have tried all USB ports on the Dell and also its docking module and all have the same crackling.Have tried 3 different headset manufacturers and all have the same crackling.I have just been setting up a new Dell Latitude 5490 laptop for my work and have noticed crackling noised in my USB connected headsets. Hello, I was Googling issues with audio crackling and I came across your posts above, so I just wanted to ask whether you might have any insights into what might be a similar issue that I am experiencing. All the hardware must work ok on the desktop system because if you install Windows 7/8 drivers everything works ok. but found nothing wrong just saying the device doesn't supportĬlearly the devices do work under Windows 10 and are all supported by the generic USB PnP driver - they work on the laptop ok. I've spoken to several Microsoft tech support people (although I have to say most of them didn't really seem very knowledgeable) & they've run through all the normal things, troubleshooters etc. Clicking the Update Driver button fails to find any drivers Setting: USB PnP Sound Driver Unavailableĭevice Manager: Driver not installed. I now have 5 USB sound devices! All work fine on the laptop and none work on this desktop system - all showing the same error: Worked with Windows 10 and were supported by Windows 10 and the USB PnP driver. This time going for ones where the suppliers assured me they OK, I thought let me buy some more USB audio devices, perhaps it is a problem. still no USB PnP drivers working on this system. More calls to Microsoft support with some pretty sketchy results.

I thought I'd check both the Plantronics USB Device & the new one on a Windows 10 laptop (also 64 bit AMD) They both worked fine! They suggested that the sound device didn't support Windows 10. A new usb sound device was purchased and I got exactly the same problem.Ī call to Microsoft Support failed to really get to the route of the problem but installing Windows 7 drivers for the new sound device worked ok. OK, I thought, this is a fairly old USB sound stick so no problem I'll buy a new one. This is a Windows 7 desktop system upgraded to Windows 10Įverything worked ok in Windows 7 but upgrading to Windows 10 has stopped a USB Plantronics sound adapter from working - settings shows USB PnP Sound Device Driver Unavailable.
